When I was living in San Diego, a friend of mine handed this to me and it immediately struck a chord with me. It’s such a powerful reminder in such a small sticker. It’s the way I have always tried to live my life and for the most part, have succeeded at it.
Living a great story means not looking backward. It means remaining in the present and enjoying everything the world has to offer to you. It means opening yourself up to limitless possibilities and not closing yourself off because of fear or past negative experiences.
Today’s meditation focuses on how to transform your life to live your own great story. It’s about shedding burdens to leave space for creating something new. It’s about breaking out of our “auto pilot” behaviors to create a unique day, everyday. It’s about embracing a life full of stories you love.
Deepak teaches us to start this process by focusing on our daily routines and altering them to begin “experiencing” what’s around us in a different way; perhaps consciously looking for five things we’ve never seen before in our own neighborhood, or even consciously doing something different in our day. The more we practice this, the more we train our brains to ignore the familiar so that no two days are alike, thus creating an even richer life story.
Always remember that life is too short to live in the past – enjoy the life you’ve been given, experience all that is around you, and the more you do that, the more your life story will read like an adventure novel and less like a Stephen King one:)
