21 Day Meditation with Deepak Chopra (Day 1): Beginning the Meditation Journey

I’ve always heard a lot about meditation and what it does for the mind, body and soul.  Some of the world’s most successful people do this every morning before they start their day.  It’s a chance to reboot, to set their intentions for the day, keeping them focused on what lies ahead for that day (you can read some of their quotes on meditation here), that they need to focus on.  It’s a practice, that as of this morning, I’ve started for myself.

Today was the first day of the Oprah and Deepak Manifesting True Success 21-day meditation experience, something I am deeply excited about.

I’ve had a lot of growth over the last year, especially when it comes to being completely honest with myself about who I am and what I want for myself.  Achieving that honesty and following through with it has been step one in my growth process – something that I practice everyday.  It has helped me to lay the foundation for setting myself on a path to success because I’m no longer focusing on toxic thoughts/interactions, useless background noise, or side paths that do not help me to achieve my ultimate goal in life.  It has become easier to say “no” to things that I know aren’t right for me, nor will not create the positive environment I’m building for myself.

With this in mind, I’m now onto step two in my journey, which is about learning how to focus on the present, to set (and follow through with) intentions for that day.  These daily intentions are aligned with helping you achieve your ultimate goal, providing you with little daily milestones to help you get there.

I’ve decided to share my daily journey with you on this 21-day meditation experience, to hopefully inspire those that are searching for a path for themselves.

Today’s Meditation Practice

For day 1, the practice was all about setting the one ultimate goal that you want to achieve.  For me, it was financial freedom.  I want to be able to have enough money to live comfortably, help others, and explore the world.  I want to make the most out of my life the way I have chosen to live it.  At the end of my session, it was clear what my intentions for today needed to be:

  1. Write at least half a chapter of my novel today
  2. Complete all tasks on my work “to do” list for today
  3. Further define what “home” means to me
  4. Continue to think through what friendship means to me/align myself with those that help me better myself

Note that these intentions can be ongoing.  Sometimes, these will be listed for weeks until the path to get there is not only clear, but is being followed and the milestones along the way are being achieved.

I look forward for what tomorrow will bring but for today, I’m excited to focus on what I’ve set out for myself to achieve today!
