As usual, last week proved to be quite busy! Here is a quick recap of two of the major events held this week:
Capitol File Magazine held their 5th Anniversary party in the beautiful Corcoran Gallery of Art on the evening of October 20. Hundreds of fashionably-dressed attendees were on hand, in hopes of being seen by the fashion king himself: Tim Gunn. The location was incredibly decked out with indulgences in every corner, including fashionably-shaped cookies, chocolates and even cakes! On hangers hung strings of candy goody bags and what greeted you when you walked in the entryway was none other than a faux 4 1/2-foot tall tiered birthday cake! It was a great evening of seeing familiar faces and meeting new ones. Happy birthday to Capitol File Magazine!
Thursday night took on a fun but more somber note as Saks Fifth Avenue Tysons Galleria customers, the host committee and a few media and onlookers got together to raise money for Life with Cancer – a fully-functional cancer center in Fairfax, Virginia. Cancer survivors, supporters, friends, parents and loved ones took to the runway, each with their own story of why they were there (at times it was emotional but this show served as a celebration of life), co-emceed by Real Housewives of DC Mary Amons and Kate Michael of K Street Kate. When the show concluded, guests were given a $50 gift card to go spend in the store with a portion of the proceeds going to Life with Cancer.
